Italy: Protests against driving bans in Tyrol
Every year, sectoral and night-time transit bans take effect in Tyrol to keep the high volume of traffic under control - to the benefit of citizens and the environment. Every year Austria is criticised by neighbouring countries for exactly this reason. A "Brenner Coordination Group" will now organise large protest actions.
EU emissions standard: Euro7 endangers vehicle production
Many additional costs are hidden behind the preparation of the car industry for the future emission standards. VDA and car companies warn of the economic and commercial risks for the industry.
Air pollution worsens pollen allergies
It is not news that air pollutants have a negative impact on public health. But a study now shows why people in densely populated areas suffer more from pollen allergies than those in rural areas.
Electromobility: E-cars as a source of energy?!
Electric vehicles depend heavily on the power grid and consequently suffer from the effects of the energy crisis. But what if the e-car of the future could contribute to the power supply itself? A study shows how car batteries can become electricity storage units.
Berlin: New attempts for car-free streets
Despite the flop with the project for a Friedrichstrasse without cars, the capital is once again pinning its hopes on car-free street sections. In Spandau and Mitte, the second attempt will initially find space.
Germany: BUND sues federal government
The Bund für Umwelt und Naturschutz Deutschland (BUND) is taking legal action against the Ampel government for failing to meet its climate targets. Immediate programmes should soon find a place in implementation if Germany wants to close the climate protection gap in the areas of transport and buildings.
Mobility transition: Whether e-cars can clean the air?
To save the climate, it is undoubtedly first and foremost important to reduce the stock of pollutants and carbon dioxide emissions in the atmosphere. Researchers are now developing a CO2-negative battery that will enable electric cars to clean the air.
Norway: E-car ban on ships
Electric, plug-in hybrid and fuel cell cars are not safe enough to be carried, they say. The Norwegian shipping company now wants to ban them from its ferries.
USA: Sales stop of e-cars in Wyoming
Instead of supporting transport electrification, the US state wants to ban electric cars. Once again, the future of the country is to depend on conventional internal combustion engines - to go along with the economic policy plans of the Republicans.
Euro7G: Hybrid cars out in low emission zones
From 2025, the new EU Euro7 emissions standard is to come into force and put vehicle emissions of all kinds under greater control - including those from hybrid cars. In this context, location monitoring technology, or geofencing, is to automatically switch off the combustion engine in zero-emission zones and switch to purely electric.
