Truck drivers beware: Italian holiday causes driving bans in Tyrol this week

Attention, truck drivers! Due to a public holiday in Italy, there are some changes this week that you should be aware of. The Federal Ministry for Climate Protection is taking measures to regulate heavy goods traffic in Tyrol with driving bans and closures. So be prepared to exercise patience once again!

As you may know, the Italians celebrate the "Feast of the Republic" every year on 2 June. If you want to enter Italy's southern neighbouring country this year with a truck or articulated lorry weighing more than 7.5 tonnes, you must expect some restrictions. You may not drive on the Inntal motorway from the state border at Kufstein to the Imst junction, nor on the Brenner motorway from the Innsbruck-Süd junction to the state border.

The driving ban applies from 9.00 am to 10.00 pm, so plan your route accordingly!

But that's not all, folks! Due to the public holiday, there will be increased truck traffic on the days before and after. Therefore, there will be block clearance on the A12 at Kufstein-Nord on 31 May, 1 June, 3 June and 5 June. From 5 a.m. onwards, heavy goods traffic will be slowed down and stopped if necessary so that only about 300 trucks per hour coming from Germany will be able to travel on the A12, according to the authorities' instructions.

So, dear colleagues, take note of these changes and be prepared for some delays in Tyrol this week. Have a good trip!
