The news hits like a bomb: Stuttgart says goodbye to its fine dust alarm. And this even immediately, because since Wednesday of this week (15.04.) it is already over!
Yesterday, a decision was made on possible driving bans or measures for the city of Wuppertal.
After the Easter break, the next court hearing on the subject of driving bans is already coming up. Today, the negotiations on the Wuppertal case before the Higher Administrative Court in Münster are entering the next round.
The corona crisis still has a firm grip on us. Many shops are closed, a large number of employees are in the home office. What that means for traffic is clear. Yawning emptiness in the streets.
Traffic during the Easter holidays is expected to be limited to the bare essentials.
What initially seemed to be only a coincidental commonality actually seems to be in a causal relationship: pollution and a high incidence of corona infections.
It is intended to become a model for other metropolises - and not least to show that it is possible to prevent and circumvent diesel driving bans with well thought-out concepts.
Exaggerated actionism is seldom a promising strategy to face new circumstances. After several months of discussions in Düsseldorf about eco lanes, it now seems that for the time being there is some calm in the matter.
As has been reported frequently in recent weeks, many metropolitan areas are currently deciding to take special measures in the transport sector.
