Environmental zone Gothenburg - Sweden
The environmental zone of Gothenburg
With a population of over half a million on an area of 447.8 km², Gothenburg is the largest city in Sweden. Due to its location on the west coast of the Swedish region of Västra Götaland, it is an important transport hub between the cities of Stockholm, Oslo and Copenhagen.
Gothenborg has a more favourable climate and, with its ice-free seaport in the estuary area of the Göta älv, offers a significant economic advantage for heavy industry and ferry shipping.
The city is divided into ten boroughs.
The environmental zone of Gothenburg is already in force since 01.01.1996 and was extended on 01.04.2007.
