The end for green low emission zones?

Thanks to Corona, air quality has demonstrably improved significantly almost everywhere and some cities and citizens are already singing the praises of the end of the diesel driving bans.

However, this is still completely open, as can be seen in Stuttgart. There it is currently being debated in court whether the diesel driving bans will be tightened to Euro 5.

Hanover now wants to go one step further. Since the measured values are probably so good and, according to the prognosis, are expected to remain so, the city is seriously thinking about permanently abolishing the green low emission zone. If it seriously comes to this, it would be a novelty in Germany and the end of the low emission zone introduced in 2008.

Will other cities follow suit?
