New truck driving bans in Tyrol

Green-Zones News

Due to adverse weather conditions, new rules have been in force on the motorways in Tyrol since Saturday, 5 February 2022. All trucks with a total weight of more than 7.5 tonnes are affected.

These trucks are not allowed to drive on the Inntal motorway (A12) and the Brenner motorway (A13) if they are heading for a destination in Italy or Germany. They are also not allowed to drive through these two countries to a third country. There is an exception for Austrian truck drivers: If they have their main residence or company headquarters in Austria, they are allowed to use the motorways to reach their destination, but only to park the truck there. Exceptions exist for animal transports, delivery journeys to airports and if the journey is part of a combined road-rail freight transport. The driving bans apply for four weeks every Saturday up to and including 5 March from 7 am to 3 pm.

In the Tyrol Low Emission Zone on the Inntal motorway, particularly strict rules apply anyway: Trucks that do not meet the Euro 6 standard and do not have an environmental sticker are not allowed to drive there at all.
