France: Camera madness

After installing test cameras in the city of Paris, the port city of Marseille is now following the example with a similar project. The aim is to provide better camera controls and even more fines!

The city is currently testing a so-called “air pollution radar”. A laser scans each individual vehicle and analyses the pollutant emissions. In the future, a sporting driving style instead of an environmentally friendly one could lead directly to fines – regardless of the speed limit. In addition, the driving style could later be combined with the system of Crit’Air stickers. However, it remains to be seen how the government will deal with the dieselgate, not to mention data protection. Will the system be effective and soon be applied throughout France?
