Surprisingly, on 04.06.2020, without previous announcements, settlement talks between the Deutsche Umwelthilfe (DUH) and the state of North Rhine-Westphalia took place.
The talks concerned possible diesel driving bans on the Clevischer Ring, Justinianstraße, Luxemburger Straße and Neumarkt.
After the Higher Administrative Court in Münster declared the Clean Air Plan, which came into force on 1 April 2019, to be illegal on 12 September 2019, and Cologne extended the green low emission zone once again on 1 October, the fight is now entering its final round after a long and hard exchange of blows.
There will be no comment on the result until 12 noon on 17 June. The Ministry of the Environment described the negotiations as "intensive, but very constructive".
We are curious.
